Free camping at Cottonwood Canyon BLM
Transcript Content Summary: LivingOurDreamNow
Today I traveled south on Arizona Highway 79 from Mesa, Arizona and turned onto Cottonwood Canyon Road east to explore some state trust land. 'Arizona where I am currently parked. I now leave the Arizona State Trust Land Dispersed Camping Area that I just reviewed and head east on Cottonwood Canyon Road to the Arizona State Trust Free Camping Area. Cottonwood Canyon East BLM. The road is quite good so far and suitable for large vehicles. As you progress east on Cottonwood Canyon Road, the scenery becomes more and more beautiful, and I believe this is where the Arizona State Trust Land ends and the BLM area begins. . Once I arrive at the BLM dispersed camping area, I point to the signage indicating that camping is allowed for up to 14 days. I then give a tour of the camping area and show the different sites available. I also point out the signage indicating the rules for staying within the BLM area, which require staying within 300 feet of a designated road. Exploring the area further, I find several campsites available, but note that the road grades beyond a certain intersection, which could be a problem for large vehicles. Despite the beauty of the scenery, I advise owners of large vehicles to exercise caution due to potential obstacles. I then give a walking tour of one of the campsites to give an idea of the places for those considering coming to camp in the area. I also show some environmental concerns, like trash left behind by other campers. Ultimately, I recommend this dispersed camping area for smaller, high clearance vehicles, but advise owners of larger vehicles to remain cautious due to road conditions and campsite layout.
