Story

Formerly called Piesthebi, this village was renamed at the beginning of the 20th century in honor of a Belgian aristocrat, Johan Beetz, who settled in this village for a few years. The latter had a luxurious mansion built there, which the inhabitants still call “Le château” today. He made a great contribution to the inhabitants of this village with his knowledge of medicine. In addition, Baie-Johan-Beetz is the only place in Canada to have been spared from the Spanish flu since Johan Beetz quarantined the village. SourceWikipedia
