We lucked out with our first location, located on Lake Superior, the largest freshwater lake in the world in terms of surface area. If you're planning to camp in Ontario, this video is for you! After spending a few nights recharging our batteries and filling our tanks, we were ready to head to our first wild camping site. We had no idea how lucky we would be with our first location.
We have just arrived at our first wild camping site and we are so happy. Look at this, it's magnificent. This is crown land so we can totally stay here. There is a sign indicating that camping is allowed. Look how pretty this place is, it has a fire pit. We spent four nights here overlooking Lake Superior, the largest freshwater lake in the world by surface area. Due to its vastness, this lake can suddenly transform from a calm and tranquil swimming pool into a powerful place with 30-foot waves. I still can't believe it's not the ocean.
Shadow, Bonnie and Dora had a blast here. The sites are spacious for dogs to run and play, the water is crystal clear so swimming is a must if your dog likes to get wet. However, be sure to follow leash laws. We always keep them on a leash when passing through other sites or when other dogs are present, this way everyone can enjoy their time here.
This place is located on Highway 17, one of the most scenic roads you can take while driving through Ontario. There are several small places with crown land campsites in the area. Be sure to check the Legal Atlas to see if the area you want to camp in is within the boundaries.
The sunsets were definitely our favorite time of the day. The sky created this beautiful pink and blue painting which then gave way to a bright orange as the sun dipped far into the lake. We felt so at peace connecting with nature while walking on the rocks. All those years of planning to adopt this lifestyle were definitely worth it. We can't wait to see what's in store next.
