Description
The Pointe-des-Monts Lighthouse is an important historical maritime monument in Quebec. Erected in 1830 near Baie-Trinité on the North Shore, it is the second oldest lighthouse still standing on the Saint Lawrence River. The seven-story stone tower stands 21 meters tall. Its watch balcony offers a panoramic view of 360 degrees over the river, ideal for whale watching. The floors feature an immersive exhibition on the lives of lighthouse keepers and the shipwrecks in the area. The white tower is characterized by its red bands and its octagonal metal lantern. The site also includes the former keeper's house, an ammunition depot, and a shed. Designated a historical monument in 1964-1965, the complex is managed by a local non-profit organization. Please respect the site and nature by leaving nothing behind.
