Description

The Heart's Content telegraph station is an exceptionally well-preserved monument of the first successful transoceanic telegraph cable in 1866. This station, along with its sister site in Valentia, Ireland, were the respective western and eastern terminals of the grand mid-19th century project aimed at connecting North America and Europe via a 1,886 nautical mile underwater telegraph cable.
