Description
The largest national park in the United States (larger than Switzerland), dominated by colossal peaks and glaciers, including Mount Saint Elias. The gravel road McCarthy Road (96 km from Chitina, passable by regular vehicles but not recommended for large RVs) leads to McCarthy, the gateway to the historic mining village-museum of Kennecott. Camping is possible at Kendesnii campground (Nabesna Road) or in the backcountry.
