Dispersed camping site numbered (yellow post) in the Santa Rosa area, in the Santa Rosa and San Jacinto Mountains (San Bernardino National Forest), accessible only via the Santa Rosa Truck Trail (forest road 7S02) -- a narrow, rough, and winding dirt road (hairpin turns, approximately 2000 to 2200 m elevation), sometimes closed in winter; a high-clearance 4x4 vehicle is strongly recommended and trailers/RVs longer than about 6 m cannot access it. Free camping, no reservations, limited to 14 days and one group per site (max. 8 people, 2 vehicles) -- only a table and a fire ring are provided, no waste services, free California fire permit required for any fire or stove (readyforwildfire.org). This site ("Yellow Stake," equivalent to "Yellow Post" according to some maps -- no. 1 in the series) is listed as a simple site, occupied by only one group at a time, making it more isolated than sites clustered together.
