Free camping in North Carolina

Heading down the county road after turning off US 21 toward Interstate 77, one comes to the turnoff and trailhead for Basin Creek Campground. With signs informing that camping is temporarily prohibited. The 14-day free campsite is located in a great location for tourist activities in Stone Mountain State Park, North Carolina.

We came down to this county road that we took when we turned off Highway 21 onto Interstate 77. This is the exit and trailhead for Creek Basin Campground, as well as the trail parking lot for the Blue Ridge Parkway National Park Service which is right there. I'll go back before I leave, but let's take a look at the campsite.

Camping at Basin Creek Campground

I'm at Basin Creek Campground. There are several signs here posted on a tree regarding COVID-19 concerns, with camping temporarily prohibited on site. There is also another sign that mentions social distancing during recreational activities. So they put up signs because of the pandemic.

I walked back into the campsite a little, there might be another area further out that we'll check out, but let's look at this area and see what it looks like.

It's Creek Basin Campground, I believe it's 14 days of free camping. This is land managed by the North Carolina Division of Wildlife, I will have the exact name in the written description of this YouTube video. There is a campfire ring here.

Further on, it looks like there was one right here, as if someone had just torn it down. So you have quite a bit of space here. I would say truck campers, car tents, small class B campers have very little room to maneuver here. So if other people are having issues with your trailer rear-ending, you could park a trailer here without worrying about other people blocking you. that's kind of the space we see, let's go a little further down the road and see if there are any other camping opportunities.

I just drove through this fork parking area for camping, it looks like it's also a turnaround area, we'll take a closer look here in a moment. Another one of the COVID-19 signs, but I just noticed at the bottom of the COVID-19 sign it says for more information visit www.npwildlife.org, so they're the ones who own this land here with the free camping.

Let's walk, this looks like the last campsite fork, there is a turnaround area for a vehicle to come down here, at least you have a place to turn around. Let's walk a little further, I think the creek wraps around right here on the edge, but you could back a vehicle right here, it's a pretty big spot, you could put a travel trailer back up.

This is Creek Basin Camping, 14 day free camping on North Carolina Division of Wildlife land, will you like these videos, like and subscribe, and I'll see you on the road.
