We Are One Journey at a Time: Dave Carey and Rudel

We are excited to begin our third year of living and traveling full-time in our tiny home on wheels [Music]. Join us as we travel across North America, exploring and sharing the beauty around us. Check out this gorgeous view, last week we were blown away by the beauty and wildlife of Badlands National Park in South Dakota [Music]. This week we begin our 800 mile journey west to Moab, Utah, with a few minor setbacks along the way. Let’s get on this road trip!

Travel to Moab, Utah

We are currently traveling on I-80 heading west. There is a high wind warning and the highway is actually closed, we are between Cheyenne and Laramie and this is called Veda Woo, a recreational area where you can camp for free. There are all sorts of rock formations and camping spots along the road. The road is in good shape and I definitely want to come back and do a full video of this place. It is beautiful and I can't wait to show off some of the rock formations. I am looking forward to spending a few days here exploring. As you can see it snowed last night but the wind was blowing so hard that the snow didn't settle evenly on the ground. It is still pretty nice here this morning, the sun is not up yet and we are getting ready to continue our drive. Carrie is currently walking Rudel and we will soon be back on the road to get closer to Utah [Music].

Stop in Colorado

Today we're in Colorado, right off Interstate 70, not far from Walcott, if I'm pronouncing that right. We were camping on Bureau of Land Management (BLM) land that doesn't use a boat launch, but it doesn't matter because it was a quick overnight stop that worked out perfectly. It was nice and flat here, there's a trash can, a restroom, but it's kind of close to the interstate, so there's a little road noise. Not a bad place to spend the night if you're planning on staying for about eight hours like we did. No one else here and the sun isn't even up yet, another long day of driving to Moab, Utah [Music].

Exploring Moab, Utah

Today we are in Utah, 18 miles from Moab, off Highway 191. We took the Copper Ridge Safari route 4.5 miles to these BLM lands with a 14 day stay limit . We are quite isolated, it's very quiet here, it's November, that's probably why there aren't many people. You can see the red sandstone cliffs at the very top of the screen, we hope to walk up to them and explore them. It's really lively here, there are lots of things to do including looking for gemstones, all kinds of amazing rocks to find. We hope we can identify a few and find some nice ones to show off. Gabriel and I are going for a hike and I really hope we can reach those red rocks in the distance. I can't wait to take you with us and see what it's like up close, meanwhile Carrie and Rudel will stay here with the van and do some other work. Let's go!
