Unique free camping | No limits

In this video I take you to a unique free campsite with no stay limits, located in Texas at Falcon Heights. It is next to a state park, Falcon State Park, which also offers free camping sites. In addition to free camping facilities, such as a dump station, this campground allows Snowbirds to enjoy Texas' Rio Grande Valley at a lower cost by alternating between this free campsite and another location with full hookups. Falcon County Park has an interesting history, considering it was originally built to accommodate Falcon Dam workers in the 1950s. Today, it provides a scenic spot for free camping, with amenities such as toilets, electricity and picnic areas. Additionally, it is possible to stay at a nearby Thousand Trails campground to benefit from full hookups after staying at this free campsite.

Lou from Living Our Dream Now shares her experience at this free campsite showing off the facilities and explaining how campers can enjoy them. It also features a little-known Thousand Trails program called “Winter Differently,” which allows members to camp for free in specific locations using their camping pass. Campers can alternate between free camping at Falcon County Park and full hookup camping at Alamo Palms RV Resort, while respecting stay and no-stay periods. This opportunity allows campers to enjoy the Rio Grande Valley in winter while cost-effectively using their Thousand Trails Camping Pass. Lou also shares tips for maximizing the use of a camping pass and discovering unique and affordable places across the United States.
