Victorian Craig and their RV trip to Mexico

Victorian Craig just spent 10 weeks traveling Baja Mexico in their RV, which gave them many problems along the way, from a leaking water heater to a rocker panel flying off while going down the road , passing through a rear wall which was in danger of coming loose. Despite all these problems, they managed to repair everything themselves, except one: the slide in the living room which did not work properly. So they took it to a repair shop in Tucson, but learned they would probably have to wait four to six weeks for parts. That's when they decided to head to Mexico in the meantime, but now they're back in the States and heading to get their RV repaired, due in a few weeks.

Where to stay near Joshua Tree National Park

Staying near Joshua Tree National Park, just 10 minutes from the entrance, on land managed by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) on the north side of Joshua Tree, Victorian Craig found a convenient location. It's basically a dry lake bed with plenty of room for any type of RV, allowing everyone to spread out without being on top of each other, just 10 minutes from the park entrance. Plus, there are a few towns in both directions, making it a great place for boondocking in the west.

Daily life at the RV

It's very hot here, we've had a few hot days and it's laundry day, with piles of laundry accumulated over the last few weeks in Mexico. They also faced difficulties with their Blackstone grid, which loses efficiency in windy conditions. Additionally, they had to refill their water tanks after using the water for two weeks without replenishment.

The stress of repairs and the good times of camping

When it comes to emptying sewage tanks, Victorian Craig always feels relief. They also had issues with their Starlink installation and had to contact customer service to get a new antenna. Despite all these challenges, they continue to enjoy the beauty of Joshua Tree and appreciate the area's spectacular sunsets.
