Exploring Creed, Colorado

Exploring Creed, Colorado

We're heading to a place we've never been before, but has been on my bucket list for a long time. Creed, Colorado, is like an old boomtown mining town, and we're going up quite a climb right now. We climbed what, 2,000 feet in the last few miles, 3,000 feet? We are at 9,400 feet now.

A picturesque little town

Our first stop is in the small town of Alamosa, which is actually much bigger than we thought. There are two colleges here, a Safeway, a City Market, and lots of other things. We go to lunch because we are hungry, get gas, empty our tanks and refill our fresh water. We were lucky enough to find a delicious, super fresh and very cute lunch inside. Then we're at the Maverick, where we can empty our tanks, fill up fresh water, get gas, and do laundry.

An unexpected discovery

We found a beautiful spot just five minutes from town, with forest service roads and stunning rock formations. We're going to park our campervans here and explore a bit, because this place is absolutely beautiful and what's more, it's free.

The Salsa Party

We were lucky enough to attend the annual Salsa Fiesta, a really cool local experience. There were 18 different stops with homemade salsas, and we even got the chance to vote for our favorites. The town of Creed is full of little surprises like this, and we loved every moment we spent here.

Exploring the Creed area

If you visit Creed, be sure to set aside plenty of time to take the historic Bachelor Loop driving tour. This 17-mile route takes you through breathtaking scenery and the remains of old mines. It is a must-do experience for all adventure lovers.

Back on the road

After exploring Creed in depth, it's time to get back on the road. We are on our way back to a new destination, with wonderful memories of our time at Creed. Thank you for following us, and see you next week for new adventures!
