Le Saamis Tipi a été construit pour les Jeux olympiques d'hiver de 1988 à Calgary. Chacun des 10 mâts comporte un grand storyboard illustrant des aspects de la culture et de l'histoire autochtones. Sous le tipi Saamis, dans la pittoresque coulée Seven Persons, se trouve le site archéologique Saamis.
