BLM camping in the lower desert of Colorado, right in the heart of the area known for geode hunting (Hauser Geode Beds and Opal Hill mine nearby, accessible by 4x4). Part of the Mule Mountains Long Term Visitor Area: free (14-day limit) from April 16 to September 14, but a paid permit is required from September 15 to April 15 ($40 US/14 days or $180 US/full season). No confirmed potable water source on site -- plan for complete self-sufficiency. A free dump station associated with this area is already documented separately on the site.
