Description
Important: this Cottonwood Campground is managed by the Bureau of Land Management (McCain Valley Resource Conservation Area, El Centro Field Office), and not by the Cleveland National Forest -- do not confuse it with the campground of the same name in Joshua Tree National Park, much further north. 25 sites are available on a first-come, first-served basis, at an elevation between 900 and 1370 m, with fire rings, tables, and pit toilets, but no running water or cell service -- bring your own water. Horses are allowed only in the east loop; no ATV/OHV access on site. It is a starting point for Sombrero Peak and Anza-Borrego. $6 USD/night per site.
