Description
The highest campground in the park (about 1020 m in altitude), located in the San Ysidro Mountains about fifteen kilometers west of Borrego Springs via S22 road. The short gravel path from the road is generally passable by a cautious car in good weather, but becomes difficult in the rain -- not recommended for large vehicles or trailers. Unmarked sites among granite boulders, pit toilets as the only amenity -- no water. One of the best stargazing sites in Southern California, with views of Borrego Springs and wildflower trails in the spring. Free.
