Sabine Wildlife Management Area – free primitive camping
Location Map
Description
Free primitive camping area at the Sabine Wildlife Management Area, a 7,554-acre wildlife reserve managed by the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, located about 5 miles south of Zwolle in Sabine Parish (Louisiana). The landscape of gentle hills and stream bottoms is home to pine and hardwood forests. A primitive camping area is located in the northwestern portion of the reserve. The site is rustic and has no services: full self-sufficiency required. This area is dedicated to hunting, fishing, hiking, birdwatching, and photography. A free self-clearing permit and an appropriate license are generally required by the LDWF for access and camping — to be validated before your stay. Out of respect for the area, please pack out your trash and leave the place clean.
