In 2018 we embarked on a journey of a lifetime living and traveling full time in our campervan. We continue to explore the beauty around us through adventures. We are currently in Pennsylvania, in the Allegheny National Forest, looking for a place to camp. We had some difficulty due to rain and mud, but managed to get by with some traction boards. Despite this, we enjoyed our stay in this beautiful place and plan to return.

An adventure of a lifetime in 2018
In 2018 we embarked on the adventure of a lifetime living and traveling full time out of our converted van [Music]. We're gonna do it, join us as we continue to explore the beauty around us one adventure at a time [Music].
An eventful day in the Allegheny National Forest
Okay, so we found ourselves in a tricky situation. It's raining and the ground is soft and muddy, and we had to take out the traction plates. I was pleasantly surprised that I didn't have to dig to get these traction plates under the tires, they hooked them up immediately. We got out of this mess thanks to the traction plates, but Carry had to do most of the work because my back is in such bad shape.
How we winterize the van with our dog
Down by the water is probably a good time to talk about how we winterize the van with our dog. We have a blanket on the couch, an extra blanket on the bed, and we take all of our bedding that we sleep with and we fold it and put it aside. We also have a waterproof dog blanket that we put on the bed where we think Rudel will be. The goal is not to dirty the rest of our blankets. This works well for most of the time, and we also use extra towels and blankets if necessary.
Making soup in the van
Today I'm making 15 Bean Soup, one of Dave's favorites. It's simple and easy, I use a packet of dry 15 bean soup, a packet of ham, tomato sauce and water. I'm going to use my Hawkins 3 quart pressure cooker, so I'll just throw everything in, cook for 30 minutes, and the soup will be ready.
Outing to the river and camping by the stream
We stocked up on supplies, checked our emails and headed out to explore the river. Next week we will share with you another incredible campsite along this river. My favorite part of this place is being by the creek, it's just beautiful here, it's definitely my happy place. We were hoping to see otters, but unfortunately we didn't see them. However, the area is simply stunning, and we would definitely consider returning.
These adventures show how van life can be both exciting and unpredictable. We hope to have given you a glimpse of our incredible adventure and hope to see you again next week for a new discovery!
