Description
Hickory Ridge Camping, a free site in the Hoosier National Forest, in Indiana, near Norman (Bloomington area). This primitive camp has about ten designated sites, originally set up for equestrian camping but open to all forest visitors. There are accessible pit toilets, tie-up posts, and water for horses (not potable for humans), as well as fire rings; there is no drinking water — complete self-sufficiency required. Access is via winding gravel roads through the forest, which is mainly suitable for small self-contained recreational vehicles. Open year-round, first come first served. There is a network of trails for horseback riding and mountain biking on-site.
