Description
The most developed of the "primitive" campgrounds in the southern area, with 16 first-come, first-served sites, covered picnic tables, and waste collection -- unusual for a primitive site. The dirt road is generally in good condition for about 2.8 km from Sweeney Pass Road, accessible for tents and small trailers/RVs. Pit toilets are available, but there is no drinking water. It is the starting point for the Bow Willow Canyon trail, near Mountain Palm Springs. Current official rate: $20 USD/night for self-payment (older sources indicate $15 or free, to be confirmed).
